What is the typical way to get extended warranty coverage on an A4 and when should you start shopping for a provider? Can the dealer help with this, or do they sometimes offer a package? All the talk about parts prices is getting me nervous.
BTW, I have the same concerns with my BMW motorcycle. It cost $17K to start with, but if you built one out of the parts book it would probably cost $500K! That's always been the rub with many import brands, especially European ones.
Doug G
98 1.8TQM (with 2 1/2 years warranty to go!)

Audi does not offer an extended warranty (per my dealer - who also sells Hondas). Honda has a warranty for the A4 which runs for 7 years, 100kmiles for about $1600 (there is haggle room here). Many other "insurance" companies offer extended warranties, but I have a Honda extended warranty on my '93 Acura Legend, and there's been no hassle with the (minor) things that have come up. My Audi dealer said the extended warranty must start before the expiration of the Audi one.
I'm thinking about doing this, since I intend to keep the car for a long time, and have concerns about the high cost of potential transmission and quattro repairs.
//Steve
1998.5 2.8 QTS
