The $1056 for the Bose system seems a little steep. What aftermarket stereo/CD players exist for the 1.8T that will fit directly into the console without too much hassle? I don't need all the power, but I just want to know what the selection is for aftermarket items like speakers and single cd players that would fit into the existing slots on an A4 1.8T<p>thanks

it's a standard size hole back there, but you'll have gaps all around, so you need a faceplate adapter to make it look nice...<p>steve

You can have a shop install a subwoofer and amp for around $350. The purpose is not to add power so much as to add bass, which is sorely lacking with the stock unit. Since the sound quality with tone controls set flat is reasonably clean, adding the sub and amp fills the sound out nicely for a lot less than the Bose option or an aftermarket overhaul of the entire system. And it keeps the original dash appearance.<p><br>
