Drving home this eventing on the beltway in D.C. around 9:00 pm I was passed by a beautiful brand spanking new black A4 doing 95mph or so. Just yesterday my dealer, Rockville Audi, called to inform me that my black A4 arrived. Will dealers let prospective buyers test drive cars that were ordered specifically for someone else? Try as I might, I can't shake the suspicion that it was my own car that passed me.
What should one do if they are given an ordered car with more than parking mileage on it?
Thanks
Rob

Sorry, couldn't resist. The answer is no...no one should be allowed to drive your car. Now, the car I got off the lot had 104 miles....I keep wondering what happened in that 100 miles. Was it people like me test driving the car...or a little ole Lady from Pasadena. Hmmmmm?
Steve S.
97 2.8QM
P.S. Your car should be delivered to you with somewhere from 8-14 miles on it.

You would expect an ethical dealer to keep YOUR car pristine for YOU, but who can say what the slimeballs at Rockville P/A will do.

The salesgoobs and customers were drooling, so I heard, over my p. blue Avant QMS while it sat in the showroom awaiting delivery. It's possible it was taken for a spin by someone else, but I doubt it.
Let us know what your odometer reading was at delivery.

Thanks for the comments. For the most part they have allayed all rational fear that my car might be abused until I pick it.
I'm picking it up tommorow. Hot cha!

Thanks again,
Rob

Mine had 500 when I got it in May, but it was exactly what I wanted, so I did not ask questions. I hope whoever took a road trip treated it with care. since there is no way to know, I just assume that they did. I should have complained, but I was just so damn happy to get the car I let it slide. Plus, who can blame them? If I worked there, I would take these A4's for a spin whenever possible... What a sweet ride. The Audi A4 handles even better than the chevy full size pickup they gave me today as a loaner during my 10,000 mile oil change.
Cheers,
Andrew

all this assumes that when the odometer is installed in your car it reads 000000.
that's a false assumption. my ex-audi v8 needed a dash replacement and the
new dash read 999,9xx. it was fun watching it turn over to 000000 after 30 or so
miles.
