I was just wondering if anyone has this problem. When I turn on the rear defroster I notice that the 1st 3 lines at the top aren't defrosting the windshield. After the 3rd line, it seems to be working fine because it clears up. <p>99 1.8T Tip WETT1.0<br>Jay

Hey JayJ. Enjoying your Wett chip? Heh heh heh! Those top 2/3 lines or so are "fake" defroster lines which are actually the antennas for your FM/AM radio. These are the new microwave-type antennas which are being used more frequently in European cars right now. They avoid the ugly in-fender antenna which breaks/freezes all to easily. ...I really appreciated it. Bottom line, since I do plan to keep the car, it doesn't look like it'll pay to lease + buy. Chris, I got your numbers, but once I adjusted for my cap cost ($26,5 vs. $25,8) and added in Philadelphia's rapacious 10% sales tax, the payments jumped to nearly $400.<p>So now I'm gonna go interest-rate shopping. If I can get less than 8% (payments less than $550), I'm gonna go for the A4 on a five-year loan, 10% down. (Klidge, your 20%/4 year criteria are just too restrictive! :-) <p>I have no idea whether the <8% is possible or not, because my credit isn't that great due to some youthful indiscretions (:-|), but my wife's credit is good, so we'll see. If not, it'll be the Jetta. I really want to do the right thing here and not let my enthusiasm for this car blind me.<p>Anyway, I really do appreciate the opinions I got. You guys were all really supportive and helpful (even a4eater! ;-), and I consider myself pretty lucky to be affiliated with such a cool group. ...I am 23 years old and I really don't agree with the whole leasing thing. But believe me, I had 'analysis paralysis' for months! But I will be happy with the Saturn SL2(vroom,vroom!) that I'll be getting (whenever the Jeep gets sold! Jeez!).
