I guess I owe everyone an appology, I'm not one to go off the deep end and actually didn't think I did, but a day later and reading my posts (which seem to have been trashed because of the board going haywire). I might have come on too strong. Let me step back and explain in more detail what led me to this. It does have a valid source and a valid answer, although, I don't have that part yet.
First, let me tell Phil S. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to jump in your.... well, you know what.
Ok, here goes. Geez, I do wish this board would settle down a bit though, the BMW vs Audi stuff is really a pain.
As some might know, I've been fighting an over boost problem with my K04 setup. Whenever I get a 1.0 bar chip, it provided 20lbs of boost. Way too much. I've been working with Frank Wetteraur to solve this. (commercial interruption, have I mentioned how great these guys are to work with.. WOW!).
Anyway Frank started to wonder if my "adaptation" for the throttle body had somehow come undone. He asked that I perform a code with a VAG to make sure it was right. Well, long story, it lead me down this path. You see, when you hook up the VAG, it shows, idle and part throttle, but I can't get it to show anything else on my car. I'm not even sure if it's suppose to. BUT, my car did show an error and when I entered that function in the VAG, it paused and said "adaption - OK". But I still only had idle and part-throttle as indications on the VAG.
Now for the second part of the story. After reading the documentation on this test, it appears two things, a) the VAG will only show up to 90% throttle. I suspect this is because they limit the throttle opening so it doesnt bind with a wide open throttle... Everyone remembers the sticking throttles right! b) it might be there isn't a WOT or FULL indication, but from the manual it appears to find idle, part and limp-home mode by pulsing a selenoid and some other stuff. I didn't do a very scientific study of this, but will tomarrow or monday.
With that said, don't read this as anything to do with clips. The part of my message that somehow got screwed up. I did verify that mechanically, I have full throttle and full butterfly open with the pedal pressed down. There isn't anymore it can open as it goes to the stop on the cam on the outside of the TB, which is directly connected to the butterfly valve, and I pulled the hose to verify. What I was after was how to make sure the ECU KNEW it was at Full throttle. I figured there must be a software adjustment that would cause that to happen and when it did a WOT or FULL to show as well as idle and part-throttle in the VAG test. This is part I still don't know.
I do know this, if the ECU doesnt know that the thottle is at WOT, it won't got into open-system mode. Remember, in obdii there are two modes, closed where all the sensors are doing their job for tuning and open where you basically are at wide open Throttle and the pressures, fuel, etc are all pretty much set mechanically. I'm sure the latter happens, but I'm not sure the ECU knows where it happens in relationship to the throttle position. Hence the 'adaptation'.
Oh, well, more studing. As is usual, some of you came up with some good ideas. I just didn't want to go down that road of the clip, because I knew it wasn't where I needed to go. I also can tell you that not all cars have the clip and all it does is adjust the throttle cable to make sure most of the play is taken out of it and that when you press the lever inside the car, that the butterfly moves. Remember this isn't fly-by-wire like some of the high end cars. It's mechanical and it takes moving the lever to cause the TV to open.
Anyway, I'm indeed sorry and I hope this clears up the question, mystery and my emotions....
I still wish this board would clean up. Geez, I have to sort through about 20 messages to find the real content and even then it gets hard to sort out the real information from the BS.
Thanks,
Alan

You are a person of quality. I wish more people on this board had the integrity to say what you have said if they feel they need to. I to become frustrated at time with the board and may not have addressed my attitude as well as you. You have made your issue more clear and settled the question of the butterfly in fact being all the way open. I know DonP (?), also had the overboost problem on his Wett K04, and we spoke on the phone to try to get to the answer, he did solve that problem, but I think it best if he explane it to you. As for the childish behavior of late, I do not think it will stop, we just have to weed through the junk to get to the good stuff. Also if people would just not post any response they will get frustrated and go bother some one else.
