Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I just noticed that the gap between the top of the tire and the fender is over 2.5" at the front of the car and less than 2" at the rear. This is the sport suspension by the way.
And before anyone asks, there is no 300 lb. dead body in the trunk. Really...there isn't...
Inquiring minds want to know....
Thanks!
Ken

I don't know if its normal for the front gap to be larger, but it sure makes the car look funny. I had mine lowered ~1 5/8 inches w/ h&R and the fronts are .25 - .5 inches more gap, and it looks retarded. After winter i'm going to get all the car relowered utill there is about 1 finger gap (or less?) between the fender and the top of the tire at every corner.

looked at me like I had lost my mind.
I had read somewhere on this forum (six months ago) that during shipping, Audi uses spaces on the front end during shipping. These spacers were designed to prevent the front air dam front hitting the pavement during unloading. Sometimes, these spacers were left in when dealers rushed to get a car delivered.
My car sat higher in the front and I know for a fact that the dealer rushed to get my car ready. When I broguht this up to them, they looked at me like I was crazy. I dropped it. So either I am still driving aroung with spacers or the front end does sit a bit higher.
Doug Hanson
98.5 A4 2.8QSTip Santorin Blue with Ecrua and etc.

Added OEM sport springs to my 97 recently. I didn't tape it, but there is a bit more gap in front than rear. Still, the car looks to be the correct angle overall.
Peter
97 1.8tqms

Yes, it is totally normal for an A4 to have more space between the fender and the top of the tire in the front than in the rear. BMWs are the same and so are Benzos to a certain degree. I also hate this look. Oh, and nobody is riding around on spacers. When I first had my car lowered (with A! springs) I came to pick it up and I was horrified! I told the folks at the shop that there was NO WAY I was going to pay $.01 for that job. "Send the springs back to A! and make some phone calls and make my car sit right!", I told them.
The solution was a set of H&Rs. I guess they're the race springs? But anyway, they lower the rear 1.4" and the front 1.9" so there is exactly the same space.
Interesting thing....The car really does sit horazontal to the ground the way it is stock, so when you lower the front more than the rear it becomes raked ever so slightly. This has some interesting effects of its own. One is better visability over the dash. Another is the seating position, the drivers seat is realativley unaffected because its rake can be adjusted but the passenger side (a horrible seat to go fast in already) becomes raked to a point where you feel like the seat is spilling you out and onto the floor. I solved this by putting a set of Recaro SRs in the car.
Hope this helps,
Damon
98.5 Avant QMS, AMS chip, cat back, K&N, H&Rs, Bilsteins, Recaro SRs, 18x8.5s
