My local dealer has the white Avant 1.8T Quattro that I want except it has Leatherette seats. I really do not like the plasticy look & feel of the leatherette (neither does my wife). What is the cloth quality like? I have never seen the interior on an A4 (local dealer has not gotten a cloth version in the last 6 months for me to see - I am in Idaho, makes it hard to look around ;-) ) in cloth. I'm purchasing a 2.8 Avant and was debating between the leather and the cloth. Leather looks nice but the cloth (1) anchors you in the seat better during spirited driving and (2) doesn't retain heat / cold like the leather (and I assume the leatherette). Greater comfort / less cost still left me with a difficult decision. <p>The moment I sat in a cloth seat, though, I instantly knew cloth was the right seat for me. It had just the right amount of give and felt perfectly firm and solid. The cloth itself seems *very* durable as well.<p>Good luck with your decision.

I went for the cloth because it was all my dealer had. I think it is a very good quality, but it is a little on the hard/firm side, but it is pretty comfortable. I do have the sport seats also. I haven't heard too many complaints about leatherette durability, so I think you'll be fine either way. Cloth is pretty good, I just don't think it looks right on a $30-35K car. Good luck deciding; you're still getting a great car!<br>

'99 2.8 QMS and cloth--very good quality

I'm quite happy with my cloth seats. Real fabric, nice pattern, very grippy (as already mentioned). I've got the Onyx Advance cloth and everyone who's sat in my car has commented about how good the whole interior looks/feels. For me (emphasize this, to each their own), the A4 is a sports sedan as opposed to a lux. sedan, a German sports sedan, yes, but an ss nonetheless. I think cloth interiors are quite appropriate for my application. I got exactly what I ordered and couldn't be happier.<p><br>
