View Full Version : Squeak in Armrest Scott 10-20-1998, 07:50 AM My armrest is squeaking when I put pressure on it (between the lid and the actual bin I think) anyone have this problem, and or a fix? Thanks.
Scott
98 A4 2.8QM RobS 10-20-1998, 08:02 AM Many suggestions in the archives. In general, apply some type of lubricant to the latch where it contacts the main part of the armrest. You can even add some foam or rubber bumpers to the armrest to keep it tighter. Mine went away after about 8000mi. Kaiser 10-20-1998, 08:54 AM This applies to my case, but since so many people complain of this problem, I figure it will work for some of you. The lubricant idea is correct, but where is the issue. After applying it liberally all over the latch and cover, it still squeaked. The key turned out to be the outermost corners of the latch that you press to open, where they actually come in contact with the storage bin, not the little lock tab that you think would be the culprit. The tolerances are too tight, and they rub, producing the squeak. Give it a shot, and let us know.
Michael 98.5 a.8T QMS Neuspeed
|
