Reading the forum and through the archives, I think it could be either the wastegate or a hose.
The Symptoms were: The car did not accelerate, especially uphill. The car just kind of sputtered around 15-20 miles per hour. Even when I pushed the accelerator down, the car would not take it. Passing other cars on the freeway became hard to do. Even under full throttle, the car seemed to have a hard time gaining speed. Also, I cannot hear the turbo anymore, whereas before I heard it spool up under acceleration.
Gas mileage was bad too, around 20 mpg.
Breaks squeal and Front Right Suspension makes a slight noise when turning left.
Bummer...)-:
Roger

do you think aggressive driving
or engine mods are the culprit,
or just a faulty turbo?

I don't have it chipped yet. I did not drive the car too aggressive. Once in a while I rev'd it to the limit ~6800rpm, but that should not destroy the turbo. I think it is a design flaw or material flaw since it happens to so many others on A4.org.
Roger

What are you talking about? Yes, this is a flame. You don't even know what is specifically wrong with your car and you claim to have a "destroyed turbo"?! Why, are you an engineer, omnicient?
Yes, the turbo rods break on this and other turbos in a very small number of cases (5 that I can find in the group). A broken rod is not a destroyed turbo.
I do want to hear what happens when the dealer figures it out, otherwise uninformed speculation remains just that.

My apologies. I did not want to give the impression that the whole Turbo is destroyed. It's "only" the wastegate. However, Audi recommends the replacement of the whole Turbo if the wastegate breaks. Hence, my dealer will implant a new Turbo into my car as soon as it arrives from Germany.

Roger,
The rod issue sucks. It is a statistically minor problem, but that doesn't help if you end up being the statistic. Are they giving you a loaner? If so, complain about the suspension squeek. The brakes aren't worth the time, Audi even has a pamphlet on the issue.
