I'm on the verge of buying. I'm down to color. Black, blue and silver all look good to me. I'm leaning towards black or blue (even toss up). I've heard that both are hard to keep clean and will scratch easily. Does this apply to black more so than blue or visa-versa. Should I just go for my third choice silver and be happy with easy maintenace and no scratches?
The black will be the hardest to take care of. In terms of scratches etc. both the blue and the black will be more prone to scratching. If you take care of them right and use the right products you will be fine. Black, in my opinion is the prettiest car color when it's clean, but you may be washing it 2 or more times a week to keep it that way. The silver will be easy to take care of. So if you enjoy washing and waxing (like me) and stuff like that go for the darker ones. If you don't particularly care for that type of stuff or do not have alot of extra time go for the silver. Just my thoughts.
Go with a silver one! Reason: see earlier post by Rob S. <br>98 A4 1.8 Tm Santorin/Royal Blue-Ecru

In the last six months I have run it through a gas station car wash a few times, once through Mr. Pride and washed and waxed it when new.<p>No scratches (at least not detectible) and looks great even when dirty.<p>Black IMHO shows dirt much worse.<p>I was torn between Black and Santorin.<p>I got Sanotrin with the Ecru leather and Blue piping. The two tone door panels, piped seats and Blue dash with wood looks both elegant and sporty. Check one out.

<br>JJ, all the Audi's use the same clearcoat and therefore all colors have the same resistance to scratches. Lighter colors just do not show the scratches as much as dark shades/black.<p>Dark colors also make door dings appear more pronounced, but nothing (IMHO) looks as classy as a clean, shiny black car. <p>My 2ct<p>Robert Jordan<br>'97 1.8t/M/B/CD/Con./armrest/splashguards/5-spokes

Yep it looks dirty pretty quickly, but is such a pretty colour its worth washing every week. I've had mine 5 months, and would definately get a blue again. <br>
