On Sydney Motorshow audi presented their new 1.8t (132kW)engine, standard on a4 quattro. Actually, its the old engine with modified ECU. Bad is that you can't simply put new ECU in old engine.

View Full Version : New 180bhp engine for 1.8t quattro Dalibor 10-22-1998, 05:16 PM On Sydney Motorshow audi presented their new 1.8t (132kW)engine, standard on a4 quattro. Actually, its the old engine with modified ECU. Bad is that you can't simply put new ECU in old engine. Zsolt 10-22-1998, 05:34 PM Kirk 10-22-1998, 07:04 PM I compared the specs on the TT 180HP 1.8T engine with the 150HP 1.8T A4 engine. They are almost identical except for torque and HP. Bore, and everything else are the same. Thus, it appears that they are the same engine with different engine management controls (i.e. ECU). Now, I may be completely Bass Ackwards and leaping to conclusions, but GOSH! get the 180HP ECU chip and give it a whirl.
Kirk
P.S. let us know if your engine blows up, thx... ;) Mt atl 10-23-1998, 08:03 AM : |
