I've reviewed the archives and done research regarding the remus exhaust. At my speed shop I can get just the muffler installed for $290, if I want the cat-back installed it'll be $390. I know the guys at the speed shop pretty well, but can these prices be for real. Also, in the archives I've read there is no cat-back. Is that true? I also live up north so would you guys recommend the remus, but for this price? What to do? Also I know the products aren't used, they're totally legit.
Jeremy
I Live in pittsburgh and have a Remus muffler installed. I don't know how handy you are around the workbench, but i took ME < 30 min to install the remus muffler myself. If you can get it cheaper w/o install, i'd suggest that (unless you are having them weld it on). Mine is holding up fine in teh northern weather

First off there is no-cat back from Remus for the A4....I have an older
catalog, but it most likely will still be valid. The normal street price
for the Remus muffler (specially fitted for the Quattro...with a different
one for the non-Quattro) is from $440 - $475. I got a used one for
$300. I would be very careful that someone isn't selling you the
universal muffler from Remus (some Honda guys might use this one).
It will not be set-up for your car. Just my opinion, but if it sounds too
good, it probably is. I would proceed very cautiously.
Steve S.
97 2.8QM

I haven't decided if I'm going to clamp it on or weld it. If I decide to weld it they would be doing the installing. They gave me the product number and they gave me an official brochure from remus (I kind of took it, I think it was their only copy). It lists all the makes and cars that remus mufflers fit and gives the product number plus description and pictures. Everything matches up. I visted the website address listed on the brochure, however, I guess it's in german or something. It's a small shop and the guys are pretty cool. I just don't understand does remus make just the muffler and that only for the a4?
Jeremy, where are you getting this price? Every place I've seen is almost $200 more uninstalled. If it works out for you, let us know where to get such a good deal!
Jim

I've checked around pretty much, most of CA regarding prices for the Remus exhaust for the A4's --with major haggle factor, even at the shops i frequent, the lowest i've seen was four bills ($400) installed. I'd take Steve's comments with good weight - I seriously doubt that you can get a Remus for an A4 for $300. In addition, i'm 95% sure there is no cat-back, as i've seen the dealer catalogs myself.
Why don't you ask them to show you the catalog? It sounds more like they're selling you a universal Remus. ..
One way you can test, if i still remember right, ask them for the DTM-tipped model. . . reason being, last time i checked, Remus does not make DTM tips for the A4 2.8Q models (for non-Q they do). I believe the only tip style available is the dual square 92x78mm style. If they say yes, then i'd be somewhat wary .. .
Edmund Louie
98 A4Q 30V
