We have an early build date 1996A42.8, which arrived in early July of 1996. I suppose that shipments of A4's were moving more slowly than they are now, so I'll guess June First (6/1/96) as the first A4 shipment. Now, if you're talking about some early-ship car for a mag test, who knows when the first mag car was tested? I don't.<p>Cameron

I took delivery of it in April 1996....sticker shows a build date of Dec. 1995.<br>

I thought the A4 came to the US near the end of 1995 as a model year 1996 car.

'Cause the A6, formerly known in the US as the 100/200 has been here since '91ish, as the successor to the 5000 series.<br>The A6 name has only been used since '95/'96 in the states.<p>Rob O

Huh? I don't remember any A6s before the ones that showed up as '98 models late in 1997. Germany had them quite a bit before that, I would guess they may have been '97 models, but the records indicate them as early as 1994 (6/94) as 2.5TDI models.<p>BTW, if you check the Auto, Motor und Sport archives or the Motor Presse at http://www.motor-presse-online.de/Kaufberatung/index.htm, you can see that the A4 was built starting 11/94 !

Hey, that was clever usage of "Viagra" and "Tails" in the same sentence, eh?<p>I must admit that I find your "package" rather appealing (down, boys, down!). The spoiler is tastefully understated and the skirts blend well. The mirrors are especially modern in appearance. And yes, it looks great considering it's a "senior". Heck, it looks good no matter how you look at it.<p>I think it's tough not to get the "boy racer"-look going when adding body panels!
