I had my '98.5 30V in for the 22,500 service yesterday. This is, of course, the third scheduled service, and in all three of my visits, the oil has been left one quart short. After the first service, I didn't check the oil for probably a month or two, before I checked and found it a quart short. I just figured that it had either burnt it or, possibly had a leak. I checked it every few days after I topped it off, and had no loss. After my second scheduled visit, I again checked the oil.... this time the next day after the car had sit in the garage overnight, and again 1 qt. short. I took it back to the dealership this time, and they confirmed that it was a quart low and said they would add a quart. Well, I checked again the next day, and again, still a quart low. So I added a quart, and again, it never lost over the next few months. I assume that this was a miscommunication. The third oil change, I did myself. I don't recall exactly, but I believe that I added 5.5 qts. as the manual recommended, and after a couple days checked the oil, and again had to add oil, but don't recall if it was actually one quart or not. So after yesterdays scheduled visit, and again finding the oil one quart short, I returned to the dealer again today, and instructed them that in all three visits that the oil had been left one quart short. The technician, checked his CD-ROM and my manual... both showed that the car should be filled with 5.5 quarts and he also showed me the oil bottles used to fill the car. He then checked to make sure that I had the correct dip stick.... it was. He topped it off with a quart of oil, mentioned that he had heard of people posting on the internet that their cars had been one quart short after maint., but that I was the first to bring it to their attention. He said that he was going to contact Audi about this, but it appears that the 30V... at least after a certain date, may actually use 6.5 quarts intead of 5.5. Just a warning to 30V owners to at least check the oil level, even after service to ensure that the correct amount has been added.<p>G. Hale<br>'98.5 2.8 QMS
