Several listers have mentioned problems with the excessive draining/useage of windshield washer fluid due to the actuation of the headlight washers when not wanted. I posted the following just before the list got archived; decided to send it again.
My 98.5 has a delay for the headlight sprayers - won't activate unless I hold windshield
spray switch on continuously for over about 2 seconds. So, when I want to wash windows and
don't want to wash lights, I just flick the spray lever rather than holding it on with a death
grip. Headlight washers never come on, windshield only needs a momentary 1 sec flick a couple
of times. Yes, headlight washers work - I flooded windshield with a >2 sec burst and saw
them actuate.
Have been doing this past couple of days when roads were snow/salt/gravel/dirt covered due to
bad weather here in Pittsburgh. Headlight washers never came on, to my knowledge. Have had to refill washer tank about one a week.
