Just got off the phone with Aaron Neumann of Neuspeed.....they are now able to sell
both a 19mm rear anti-sway bar AND a 22mm rear anti-sway bar (with reinforcement
pieces). The 19mm bar is not adjustable. The 22mm bar has two holes for mounting
in either the stiff or less stiff position. The list price for the new 19mm bar is $199.95
(part #2502-19.4). The support piece can also be used on the 19mm to be on the
safe side. They would be an additional cost on the 19mm bar ($???), but come included
with the 22mm bar set-up. I am considering moving to the 19mm bar with the supports.
BTW, I took pictures of my install of the support pieces...I will post a picture here when
available.
Steve S.
97 2.8QM
P.S. the usual disclaimer..."I do not work for Neuspeed or any subsidiaries...I am just
an A4 owner like you."

I have a few questions.
1. Is this only for the quattro setup?
2. Has Neuspeed finished rear sway bar for the FWD?
3. Will the support pieces work for the FWD?
Thanks,
Howard Kim
98 A4 1.8tms(neu)

I think both the FWD Passat and A4 do not have OEM sway bars, and
aftermarket places do not offer them. The rear axle assembly and suspension
look totally different on the FWD cars. Sorry.
Steve S.
97 2.8QM

I think that the FWD A4 does have a rear sway bar, but the Passat does not (I remember looking under AJL's car).
Sharon

for 98.5 A4, at least:
FWD cars have no rear sway UNLESS they have the optional sport package which nets a rear sway bar. I think it also gets you a larger front sway bar.
steve

What support pieces are you referring to? Is this something new. I purchased the sway bars when they first came out. Just wondering if these "support pieces" are something I should consider if I do not already have them.

I had my car up on jack stands over the weekend for a special project, and...
I noticed a bar fore of the twist beam, normally obscured by a big plastic cover. It appeared to be a skinny sway bar, maybe 15mm in diameter. Mystery solved?
New Dimensions lists two rear bars for the B5 Passat, 25 and 28mm. I'm assuming they are for fwd since virtually no Syncros have made it to the US. Whether the fitment for fwd A4s and Passats is the same I don't know...
AJL
98 Passat
