Just swapped my GS-T for the 1.8T. Power wise there is a big difference. The Eclipse was easily modified and the engine was rock solid. Wish I could say that about the rest of the car. My car ran high 13's in the quarter with stock turboand aftermarket intake, boost controller and exhaust. Noticeable lag but when spooled up the ride generated smiles. Check out dsm.org for more info.

1.8 not chipped so any comparison is unfair. Also the GS-T was not awd so launches anywhere near the high spot in the torque curve resulted in lots of tire spin. Guys who ran the GSX version (Mitsu awd) launched the car around 3,000 rpm and discovered that clutches and differentials were not as strong as the bottom of the engine. Also the 1.8 stock boost is around half of what a stock mitsu was making right out of the box. Mine was peaking aorund 15 to 16 even without turning up the boost controller. <br>Driving the 1.8 is a pleasure as it appears to be more neutral. The GS-T oversteers when pushed hard and accellerating out of a turn was an interesting experience due to the excessive amount of torque steer (but right turns sure were easy) and the usual turbo lag. The A4 feels more tossable and more forgiving.
