In the past mo. I've been left stranded in my A4 three times. No. 1 was the auto shifter breaking and locking me out of reverse. No. 2 was the ignition lock not accepting the ignition key.(parts still on backorder from Germany) & No. 3 was the headlight switch breaking. The car is a '97 A4 1.8TQ w/auto(which by the way is horrible in its shift characteristics). Anyone else having similar issues? Dealers have been great about repairs, but w/42K on Odom, I'm nervous about keeping it.

I realize with some bad experiences and the fact that this forum has seen some unhappy people, you have a right to be nervous.
I can't say keeping YOUR paticular car is a good idea.....all car mfg. make cars that are good & bad. Sometimes one car may be problematic while another is fine. I happen to be one of the lucky ones to have such a great car at 63k. I also know people who've had their Audis 200k, 300k, etc. They all need replacement parts and have some repairs, but overall, they are very solid and reliable.
Hopefully you will consider this and not be completely discouraged by these events.
Best of luck.
-Cathleen (I got the manual....it's great)
