Hi everyone,
it happened in the night, so I didn't even see what I went over... But it was really bumpy... The tire on the spare wheel was flat so basically it was like I hit the bare rim with my left two wheels. I had some problems stopping the car safely on the three lane highway and I was in the middle lane... Medium traffic... Both left side tires are flat, and probably useless, front left rim is badly bent on it's inner edge. Rear left rim could probably be fixed, so I think that I can use it again...
What should I do... And I mean should I buy two new Good Year tires and put them on same axle or should I go for 4 new better tires. I made about 45000 kms on this set of tires...
What else should I have the dealership checked... With two spare tires on the left side of my car (fellow A4 owner helped me out with his spare) I had to keep the steering wheel little bit to the left... I seems that the impact was on the inner edge of both front and rear wheel, since I couldn't find any damage on the outer edges of the rims... I tried braking hard and the car kept it's direction very well...
Your input is appreciated. Do you know what the $ damage is ... (let me know US or CDN...)
Thanks

FWIW, I would go with four new tires; 45k on two tires and two new tires would be too mismatched for me. As for the wheels, talk to a reputable alloy wheel remanufacturer; if they aren't too radically damaged they can be safely made to look like new. BTW, I know from an unfortunate personal experience that Wheels America in Arlington, TX (972.988.1501) will do it for $100/wheel. And last but not least, I would have my dealership check out the suspension for alignment and other potential damage.
Good Luck!
Michael Arredondo 99 1.8 tqms
what about your insurance company?
A set of 2 16" OEM wheels will cost you $1100 in canada from the dealer if you cant get them fixed or find some used. And then you have the four tires.
Gus

Check the classified section here on A4.org, there are plenty of people selling 4 wheels and tires cheap. Have the alignment and suspension checked by an expert shop. Also, to help avoid this situation again get some improved headlights for your car, check the archives.
Good luck, Mika
