If that is true, then I'd leave the monitor off of the UPS. That way, if you have a power outage in the middle of the night, the UPS will keep your system alive over a longer period of time since it isn't powering the monitor. Of course, I guess you could turn the monitor off at night, but still, there's no reason to put a monitor on a UPS. Surge supressor, yes, UPS, no. I once helped an admin assistant rewire her power setup in her office. She had one of the smallest UPS's around that she scavenged from an employee that had left. She daisy chained power strips off of it and had her whole office (down to the calculator with paper tape) running through the tiny UPS. She didn't realize that the UPS was going to bail within seconds of losing its power source. eMKay (BFLO) 03-13-2002, 01:06 PM when the power goes out? I usually have 8 or 9 apps open at once. 98 03-13-2002, 01:25 PM CC Rider 03-13-2002, 01:41 PM If you are present during the power outage, then you can move the monitor cable from wherever it is plugged in, to the UPS. But if you are not present, say on your lunch hour, or during a meeting, then the monitor is going to eat into your small window of backup power. |
