Ok, we ordered a 99 A4 fully loaded and once it came in, the new volcano black color
was released. So, we cancelled our silver on and ordered a vb one. 3months later we were told
that our new car was at the Boston Port and would be 2-3 weeks until we get it. Four
weeks later, no car. Clair said Audi is changing some valves or something.
The next week we were told that our car didn't have the defect problems but it had
come with a 1.8 interior and not the 2.8. Clair gave us a loaner and said the wood paneling
will be in with in 3 weeks. Nope. Clair gave us a loaner and now at almost 2 months later we
are supposed to be getting a new car (I guess they gave up with the paneling idea) next week.
WEll, last night we blew a tire in the loaner car in Boston! No manual. No phone number.
We tried to change the tire but it wouldn't budge. Finally after 2 hours, AAA came and banged
the tire off. today we are heading in to Clair to hopefully get a better deal on our new car.
Any recommendations? Should we still go through with this or was it not meant to be?
We have ordered a 2.8 fully loaded sport sus with Volcano black.
Your thoughts?
It will be in this week. Shouldn't we get a super deal
considering the 99.5 will be produced next month?

I have had black a few times, they always look so good, and I kick myself each time. No matter how hard you try, it will look poor after a year or two, and requires lots of work.

When I sold cars we put black in the showroom often cause they are so pretty, and to protect them! It helps alot to have clear coat, but does not solve the problem of black showing every little scratch.

to me Volcano black always looks kind of dirty. Know what I mean? It doesn't really look black. It's sort of charcoalish??? I have a brilliant black A4 and a black 325is. Black cars are awesome IMO. You have to spend a little extra time maintaining the paint though. I almost like silver as much as black and a huge plus for silver would be that it doesn't show scratches as easily. It's a hard decision. In the end, I chose black because silver paint cost another $500 or so. With the new pricing, it would be a harder choice since there is not price difference between volcano black and silver. I think a clean black car looks better than any other color but most of the time it doesn't look perfect becasue I don't have time to wash it once a week.
Mike

I purchased a 99 Volcano Black last month. I decided to go with the color because Silver is TOOOO common! The Brilliant Black is nice, but the Volcano has the metallic look! You'll appreciate it during the summer when the sun shines on it! At different angles it reflects differently. And also I haven't seen another Volcano Black around here yet.

My past three cars have all been black. When clean and with chrome wheels they look awesome. But here's the down side. They tend to show any dings and dirt seems almost attracted to black cars. Also here in southern California in mid summer it was a bitch keeping it cool with the air on full tilt. Non the less it is still a great choice. (bought a white one this time - and Love it).

...the maint hing here seems to be that your dealer is screwing with you. Maybe they're just PO'd that you canceled on your other one, so now they are trying to make you miserable. I just find it hard to believe that your car was built with the completely wrong interior, and as far as I know, there were never any valve problems or anything like that. I think they're just feeding you a bunch of BS. Sorry!
Charles
I initially wanted to buy my car from Clair because they offered loaner cars when you're in for service, but they couldn't get the car that I wanted. Besides that, their
pricing wasn't so great. Long story short, I ended up buying from Mattie Imports in
Fall River. Kind of a long haul, but I did everything over the phone and ended up
getting the car for $800 over cost.
Dave W
98.5 2.8 QM - Brilliant Black
BTW - Kinda kicking myself for not getting the sport package!

Volcano black is moreof a grey/graphite type color. Very nice. I would have preferred it over brilliant black (which I got). I imagine Volcano puts up very well with dust.
