My Service Indicator has been flashing for a couple of days every time i start the car for about 10-20 sec. I had my service done at 5000 mi., where i switched to synthetic oil.
Did my dealer forgot to reset the Service Indicator at 5000 mi service or is it a sign of some kind of a problem with a car?
8500mi 98.5 1.8TQ
My 98.5 indicator also came on around 8500 miles. It's no big deal, my dealer told me to wait for the 10K and they would reset it.
They gave me some half assed excused about kilometers and miles converstion.

My service light came on as I was leaving work last week. It was about 2 degrees outside and had been extremely cold for a while. I took it in for service and they said that the engine is misfiring on a cold start and they are going to replace my system computer. They ordered the part and said it would be in next week. The guy told me that all of the A4s seem to be having this cold start problem. I don't know if that is what your's is doing too, but I hadn't heard of it before.
Well the weather here in Houston has been perfect, 75'F, and the car seem to start with no problems.
98.5 1.8TQ/Wett

brought my 30V in for service at about 7800 miles. At about 8500, the "Service Oil" warning came on during stattups. Followed procedure in manual to get rid of it.
I hope num-nuts send me a sevice evaluation form; would like to give them a "Zero" on this.
