I plan to order a loaded 1999 A4 30V 2.8 within the next few weeks. Several questions remain, however :
1. Is it reasonable to expect a deal at less than 5% over the $32,363 invoice (excluding destination) ? Is the destination fee non-negotiable ?
2. How long of a wait time should I expect ?
3. Should I wait until later in the year hoping for a lower factory finance rate?
4. Any suggestions as to clearcoat black vs. volcano black ?

I paid $2000 over invoice whichis 6 to 7% over. My dealer (in Colorado Springs, CO) wouldn't budge below that. I even walked out, called other dealers in colorado, then accepted the deal the next day. There may be more competition in other cities. I waited about 2 1/2 months. My dealer sold me a car that had already been ordered for his lot, then made changes in the order that I reqested. It could take longer if dealer doesn't do it that way. Overall, I have been happy with the dealer and did not feel ripped off. I don't know about interest rates or differences of black colors.

My rep told me $1500 over invoice for the 1.8T, and $2000 over for the 2.8. That's probably about average, so you might be able to do better. I ordered a 1.8T volcano black back on 7/28, The ship left Germany 10/15, and should get to the dealer in the next few weeks. If the dealer can alter an existing order, 3-4 months seems to be about the average.
I saw an A6 with volcano black and knew I wanted that color so when I heard it was available on the 99 A4's.... I think it might hide dings and scratches a little better than the straight black, and you'll be one of the few with a VB A4.

If you want to wait for them - Head airbags and in-dash CD. You probably won't get a better price until August / September

I paid 2300 over invoice for a fully loaded A4 2.8, (due January). That's 7.1%. I've received better quotes from a few dealers, and worse quotes from others. I like my dealer and his service department, so I took the deal. I think it's fair for both of us.
