Finished up at work early. Packed my stuff up. Told a co-worker I was heading home so that I might be able to walk the dogs before it got dark only to be devastated with the reminder that I'd committed to a work dinner meeting at 6:30pm. Aaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrgggggghhhhhhhh!!!!

You could have been two drinks into your couch & got the call wondering where in the hell you were.
Just one of the reasons I don't take calls at home...the people who need to contact me have my cel # & if I don't want to be bothered, the phone is off. :)

My co-workers were laughing pretty hard. At me that is...

Digital printshop, clientele are concerned with quality and service, price not a factor...deadline oriented business...every job is a rush job...phone constantly rings as I'm leaving the shop. Being the owner, I'm afflicted with an unwavering inability to walk out without answering. Results in a 3-4 hour job EVERY time. But I do it for the money (for my business) & it would sicken me to lose a good client over the fact that I wanted to go play Return to Castle Wolfenstein/see my wife & kid/insert enjoyable activity here.
I do feel your pain. My only suggestion; REALLY drag the meeting out. You're already doing what you didn't want to do...make those pricks that mocked you stay an 1½ hours longer than they planned. I like to employ this tactic anytime a meeting isn't going the way I'd like it to. ;-)

I just got through the first round of an intra-company audit today. Damn, talking to auditors is like talking to the cops (not that I've ever had to talk to the cops; I'm just saying...). The damn audit is gonna last 4 WEEKS!!!
To top it all off, I had three meetings with my Dept. Head today. Ugh!
