Does anyone have any reccommendations for an auto body shop around Rockville, MD? I guess with the recent icy conditions around here, someone ended up rear ending my car in a parking lot, a hit and run no less :^(
thanx
Leo

No, there's nothing in Rockville that I'm aware of. But in Arlington, VA there's Wagonwork. They were among the the first in the country permitted to repair the body of the all-aluminum A-8 and their paint work is flawless. You normally have to make an appointment to get in, but your satisfaction is guaranteed. They only work on imports...and the majority of them high-end.

Mike & Andy Anderson are excellent: they have done a full strip & repaint (to bare metal, new seals, etc.) on my '73 911 that was/is superb (still, 6 yrs. later). They've also done collision work on my MB and some minor mechanical work on our Saab.
They are first rate. Not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for. Highly recommended. Craftsman, in Virginia, is also good according to my neighbor who's also a car nut like me.

If you have a pearl car, you should go ahead and cry now. Pearl will never be matched in its lifetime and Wagonworks tried their best twice for me and still couldnt get it. Their paint job is VERY high quality though.
Chris

I don't have Pearl & that's one reason why: I've gotten quite an education from Mike & Andy over the years and that's one thing we discussed; they admit they do the best they can but some things like Pearl are very very hard to match. OTOH, on my '73 911 they did so well that you cannot see the line under the rubber seals, between the factory '73 Aubergine and the '92 Wagonworks job. And w/ my '94 C280, they repaired a L.R. corner/Qtr. panel hit &run so well that it was 99.9% undetectable, matching silver metallic (not easy) such that the repair was not even noticed when the car was sold.

Based on info from Checkbook magazine, I'd take it to Amatucci Brothers, Gaithersburg; Central Auto Body, Rockville; or Newton Auto Body, Rockville. All three got a "checkmark" for qaulity and price. Wagonworks got probably the highest rating from the magazine out of all the body shops.
Drew

I took my Miata to Central Auto Body and was unimpressed. I'd recommend Auto Arte Works in Rockville, though.
