I drove my new A4, 125 miles to Connecticut from Boston in a snow storm. My tires were only at 28 PSI (instead of 36 psi) I had no problems, just whizzing by all the crawlers!

Sounds like you were lucky. If you're going to be living in the northeast this winter do yourself a favor and put snow tires, or at least all seasons, on the car til April. The message posted from the guy in NJ says it all...Quattro is NOT magic. You still have to compensate for the weather and running high performance tires (SP 8000's are summer tires) in the winter is foolish. Sorry if I'm being a bit preachy, but I'm familiar with NE winters lived in Quincy, MA til recently. Anyway, that's my $0.02...there's plenty of info in the archives.
Wishing I was in MA getting ready to go skiing.
Regards,
Rodney
'99 Silver A41.8tqms
Still running SP 8000's in Eastern NC (55 degrees today)
