Though it might also depend on the location and business relation to the US. Down here is pretty much dead.

Thanksgiving now isn't necessarily about the Pilgrims anymore. It's just about being with family, which applies to everyone.

And so is Christmas and just about every "holiday" or annual event like Valentine's day.

I'm no Christian, but it seems that you can do what today was disignated for just about any day of the year. I think you know what I'm saying.

But thanks to corporate America, it has become an underhanded way of getting people to spend money.

For example, I went to the macy's thanksgiving day parade this morning, and I was thinking as the baloons floated by that this parade originally started as a way for the employees of Macy's to celebrate and throw a "party". Now, it's all about advertising as the Hess trucks rolled by, and you have to raise (I'm speaking of marching bands) up to $250K to participate. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm not bitter, as I'll be the first to admit that I love getting presents, but at no time do I think it's really about something other than a means to commercially express their feelings at a given day/time.

And additionally, this seems to be no more true than in the U.S.

"Well, don't come to class on thursday, becuase I will be at home much the same and you, celebrating the victory of this country over mine."

It was #8 on their "Billboard-ish" ranking, I couldn't see any 'official' Billboard sign though, so I don't know if it was more of an in chain or radio ranking. I wanted to take a digi pic and shoot it your way, but the digi cam battery was dead. When ever I travel, I try to pick up some local CD's which aren't available in the US.

Figured you'd get a kick out of seeing your CD/Album surrounded by all these different Latin CD's. If memory servers me right, #9 was a Carlos Gardel, Tango tribute CD, and he's considered a god down there.

When I grew up/lived in South America I always got a kick out of reading how they butchered the translation of the song titles into Spanish. I think they missed the translation on People=**** though.
