During an ice/sleet condition last night i could not get a squirt out of my windshield washer jets. I have a 96 A4 with the cold weather package-ie. heated jets. I did not scrap the existing snow/ice off the jets when i got started. Are the jets heated all the time? Can you feel a warmth on the nozzle if their working? Insufficient heat to melt the existing snow/ice?
The nozzles squirted in a normal manner after the car rested in my garage for a few hours.
Any comments? Do the jets need service or was it simply my negligence in not cleaning off the jets before i started?

Heated washers were largely designed to keep jets open if temp drops below freezing, not to burn a hole in solid ice if they're covered. You should be fine; just brush/scrape the ice off them beforehand.
Can understand what you're going thru; we've had about 3-4 days of freezing rain/sleet/snow combination here in Pitsburgh. At times it's taken me 15-20 minutes of scraping to clear the windows.
