The standard A4 99.5 lights are the same as standard A6 lights: DE ellipsoid projectors. Just a different way of putting light onto the road (like a slide projector, rather than just a mirror reflector).
Xenon works very differently (physics) and has about 4x as much light output as a comparable Halogen setup.
Xenon was "invented" by manufacturers needing steadily smaller headlights (diameter of reflector) as to make the lights less high. Smaller reflectors mean less light, so you need to compensate for it by increasing the absolute output. The Opel Calibra (Europe only) has the thinnest lights, the height of a credit card.
- Stan

"For off-road use only" I notice that LLTEK has the preceding caveat on their Xenon headlights! Comments??

In a monarchy, you only have to get down on ONE knee.
