Was wondering if anyone has tried this performance hop up. It is supposed to net 280hp!!
The advertising jargan claims it can turn your A4 into an M3 killer. Well I just test drove an M coupe and a Porsche 996 today. Those were totally killer!!!!! Don't get me wrong; I love my A4 Avant qms, but am sometimes looking for more hp and tourque. Has anyone tried this? How much was the kit? Do you think it will adversly effect the wear on the engine? Any help would be welcome.
Thanks
Mark

I tried to contact the same people with no luck. If anyone finds anything let the list know. I would like try one in my 98 Avant the "poodle". Don't ask about the name.

It will put excess wear on your engine...and on your drivetrain...and on your brakes... Slapping 280 HP on an engine/transmission designed to put out 190HP is probably not the best way to ensure longevity in the car, or keep your warranty current. Bolt-on horsepower usually means a need to bolt-on a lot of other upgraded components, and in the end you'd have been better off just buying the M3 or the 996. Ever notice how many "just put the XK5 super chip in my 1.8 and now fires shoots out my tailpipe; is this bad?" posts you see on this group? If you want HP go buy it stock, then tweak from there. Bolt on 50% increases in HP always have a catch. Is it coincidence that PES advertised summer availability, yet no one can seem to get product info and we're going into November? My guess is they're busy pulling valves out of the ceiling tiles and cleaning motor oil out of their clothes.
Am I the only one on this newsgroup who loves their A4 but also realizes it is not a sportscar?
Just my $.03. Thought I owed the group the extra penny.
Peter 98.5 2.8QM

No, but you are the only one who read any posts similar to the supposed problems encountered by chipping the 1.8T. Ive done nearly everything to mine and I cant get any flames to come out. I sure would like that though, any ideas on how I can do it? Sure would look awesome with flames coming out the twin DTM upswepped tips! SM

Ok, so in the old days (and on carb-ed cars that are still around)...you just weld on a bung(s) toward the end of your tailpipe(s) for sparkplug(s).
Then you attach a switch to your dash to get juice to the plug. Now stomp the gas while at idle to get a good rich mixture & VOILA...flames out your tailpipe.
On fuelie cars like the A4....you could do the same thing with the spark plug, but it would be necessary to weld up a fuel injector upstream of the spark plug a bit & have a switch activated valve that routed some fuel (T-into the existing fuel lines) to the new injector. So you flip a couple of switches and !!!!!!!FLAMES!!!!!
Disclaimer: I do not endorse or advocate the use of these instructions for ANYONE. If you do this...you're crazier than me.
steve
