It's been getting cold down here (Houston), cold being 45 degrees or so, and this is the first time I've used my heater on my A4, which is about 3 months old now.
When I get in the car and start it up say with the outside temp reading 45, and I have the inside set to 72, the heat will be on, but not the fan, it stays all the way down (on Auto). I can turn the temp all the way up to HI and the fan still stays off. I have to manually turn the fan up for the inside to warm up. Once it warms up, I hit Auto, and the fan doesn't go all the way off, but to where I'd expect it to, and it then reacts with changing the temperature on the control panel.
When it's hot out, and you start your car, the AC and fan come on to cool down the car promptly, I'd expect the same for the heater in cold conditions, that's why I think something is wrong.
You'all up in the cold NW territory have to know how this is supposed to work.... please respond!
Ben B.

The fan won't operate until the coolant is sufficiently warmup. You could test this out
by looking at the coolant gauage. Does the fan
operate once the gauage starts to move ?
