Just thought people might like to know about the latest press release from the audi.com site. The A6 based allroad quattro, as seen at the 1998 Detroit auto show, will begin production in February 2000. Will get the twin turbo V6 or direct injection turbo diesel. Interesting

The Allrad (All-road) A6 Avant is most definitely NOT a sure thing for North America yet. Audi's position in the N.A. market is the ALTERNATIVE to S.U.V.s; up-market drivers have jumped on the M-B M-class, but mostly because of its newness. BMW's new S.U.V.(YGBFKM) won't do as well, and the upcoming Porsche/VW abortion will be a 914Cherokee for the New Millenium. The key thing is, the S.U.V. fad is JUST STARTING to gain momentum in Europe and other world-wide markets, and THAT'S where alot of these vehicles are aimed!
As usual, this is what I've gathered on "the inside," and subject to the vagaries of the market(s).
of these vehicles are aimed!
