1) Don't lag the engine (keep it above 1.5K when in gear and moving)
2) Try to keep it around/below 4K when up to operating temps (see below for "cold running").
3) Do not redline the engine.
4) Do not take long roadtrips unless frequently varying RPMs, changing gears
5) Get in the habit of checking your oil with each fill-up.
The following procedures I still follow, and should also be part of the break-in treatment.
1) When below operating temps (oil < 200) do not exceed 3K rpms. My vehicle usually takes about 10 minutes driving to warm up. The '99 manual suggests *not* to idle the engine for very long on startup.
2) After a long trip, or hard driving (lots of turbo usage), idle the engine for 3-5 minutes when parked before shutoff. This cools the turbo a bit and allows better heat dissipation.
3) When warm, try not to let Acura Integras (even the *real* Type-Rs) pass you. The 1.8T is far superior to Honda VTEC and likes to show it. :)

After your break-in, change to synthetic oil. It lasts longer and resists break-down under high better than regular oil.
Paul
