Now, regarding my past post about the engine lag performance, I guess what I was referring to was that there was not as much engine boost in the earlier stages of acceleration. I definitely feel it in the higher stages of acceleration though. I guess it is probably due to the fact that each chip company differs on where they provide the most boost (lower end or higher end). Just so happens that I happen to get more boost at higher ends than at lower ends. If anyone with TAP STAGE II and tip has experienced anything different please let me know.
As far as max hp allowed for tiptronics, is 240 the most that you can tweak the tips to? Anyone have more than 240hp with a tip? If so, how did you do it?
Thanks again for all your inputs.
Chris K
98.5 1.8TQAS TAP STAGE II

Also, with a manual boost controller, would it be possible to increase some boost in the earlier stages of acceleration in my case? Just hate that lack of power in the early stages of acceleration. Maybe the manual boost controller would help eliminate this problem.
Chris K
98.5 1.8TQAS TAP STAGE II

Chris, it isn't a matter of "getting more horsepower out of the tiptronic". It is a matter of "how much horsepower & torque can the tiptronic take"
Facts:
(1)ZF Industries rates the 5hp19 transmission (tiptronic) for 228 hp and 226 ftlbs of torque MAX.
(2)No one has yet found a reliable source for "beefing up" the transmission and made it known to the A4.ORG forum.
(3) This transmission is about $10,000, new.
Speculation:
(1)Some people claim this is a conservative rating....or maybe it's a sustained power rating, so brief periods of higher load will shorten its life, but maybe not significantly.
(2)TAP claims this transmission is good for 250hp.
(3)Getting a warranty claim on a "chipped" or otherwise modified car should be as easy as herding catnip-sniffing calicos.

Ok, now, you Chris, know about as much as any of us around here. So it's your decision...you know the risks, you know the rewards (more power).
good luck,
steve
