team...this is what happens, they (governing group) change the playing field faster than Audi techs/engineers can design them. Is it fair? HELL NO! But they have done this Audi for years and years...HOWEVER...if Audi pulls out of the ALMS...it will hurt this sport. Audi's have always been a huge draw for the sport. WE CAN'T HELP IT IF THEY ARE JUST BETTER THAN THE REST....but would hope that they make the rules fair for ALL teams...and lighten up on Audi. This new diesel is a step into the future and they should be trying to find ways to have Audi stay in the sport not exit!

The R10 goes a lot further on a tank of gas (err...diesel) than the Dyson Lola does. Isn't it fair to let the Lolas carry 5 liters more fuel? Of course the Audi purist will say 'hell no!' but that opinion does nothing to create competition and a watchable sport.

It sounds like IMSA is getting more proactive in trying to balance the scales in ALMS...I like it.

... that when a manufacturer accomplishes a fantastic goal like this (making a diesel car that can beat all comers, and run without failure the first year out) they should be given a while to enjoy it. Is it "unfair" to Dyson and Pescarolo? Is it unfair that Donald Trump has a bigger house than I have?

For marketing purposes, the only potential negative for Audi is getting beaten by the P2 Porsches.

... if/when the Lola beats the Audis, there will be a LOT of attention paid to it.

This sort of thing happens all the time in all different manners of road racing. It happened to Porsche in the mid to late 90's with their Open top spyder at Daytona, by cutting back the boost. It happened even before that in the Can-Am championship and in the first iteration of IMDA with the 956/962 series. It will happen again with the Porsche P2 Spyder.

I dont want to see Audi leave the ALMS, what i would want to see is Porsche, Audi, Lola etc race together and shee who comes out on top. The rules have to be fair for all, especially with the TV coverage, if one manufacturer runs away with the race you get F1 and no viewers.

Just my two cents.
