A friend of mine just purchased a 2000 Porsche C4 Cabriolet, and he'd like to attend the Audi DE events. I think his car has a "pop-up" roll bar (he hasn't taken possesion of it yet).

Is this acceptable at track events? If not, is there any way to manually deploy the roll bar? He also has the removable hard top, which weighs only 30lbs, so I would not trust it to provide rollover protection.

Mostly Porsche guys there...and Todd Serota had a yellow cabriolet that he tracked for years.

not the guys who run the DE events so YMMV. I'd check with a DE organizer (like Todd Serota) who runs events at the tracks your friend is near. I have no idea about manual deployment.
