meaning harness, roll cage, fire suppression system. This would be for production, closed wheel racing. Several people have mentioned the VR6 Golf III or IV as a great production class racer. I might do that but prefer a rear wheel drive platform. One friend suggested buying a used 97 or up M3 with minor body damage. Price range from 8K to 25K before modifications.
Thanks for your insights.

If you are just starting out, i would recommend either: 1. generation 1 RX7, or 2. gen 1 miata. I know that SCCA and NASA both have Pro 7 classes and they pay money too. There is decent exposure and the competition is fantastic. Some of the best drivers around compete in the nasa pro 7 series. if you can keep up with them, yo uare going...
The miata class is new at NASA and is just starting to take off. You can get the cars pretty cheap, and since it is a spec series like the other one, the cost isnt that much, and you can be competitive at that level.
Then again, i dont know what you want out of this car. I have heard that the miatas are an absolute blast. The RX7's are difficult to drive fast but are very good for learning on.
