A good friend of mine - Cosmic Bob the IT guy - roofed his ITB Rabbit in the Turn 1 gravel trap at Watkins Glen on Saturday at the start of his race group - crushed the roof right down to the cage, turned the passenger door into a Baushausian-inspired pretzel thingy, put a big wrinkle in the right rear pillar, etc. A single, slow roll, but a roll, never the less. Just anouther Lap 1 Turn 1 adventure at WGI. Ho-hum. Yawn. Next victim, please.

Just got off the phone with Bob. Guess who will probably beat me to Race Registration at Mid-Ohio this Friday night ? Cosmic Bob. Roof is already pushed back up, new windshield already fits and he was on the way to NAPA this afternoon for a tube of windshield adhesive and a couple of cans of spray paint. Total elapsed time from WGI T1 gravel to M-O qualifying grid will be about 6 days 19 hours.

Warren had good news this week about his Type R (you can read about his theme-park ride driving adventure below), but he's still got a little bit of skepticism about what he's hearing from the racers he's talked to. Warren's thinking "it's gotta be worse than it looks....", when what it looks like is.......future racecar !

It's amazing what you can accomplish with a couple of big hammers, a floor jack and some 2x12's.

Hmm, so what do you use these for? Do I even want to know? ;)

The car is going to the body shop on the 28th. They're all backed up til then. Not such a bad thing, since the cage builder (who happens to work in the same shop) is also booked for a few weeks.

Body shop? Body shop? Sheesh, you don't have to make your R look purdy. Just get it road worthy by a shop and take a hammer to straighten out the body a bit. I've got a few good size hammers I can bring over :) Then just the the rollbars/seats/harnesses.

BTW, when are we going to strip out the insides. Can't wait until you get your bills for all the repairs. I'll bet you'll sell your unneeded alcons to me then :) Hahahahahaha!<p>Andrew Lee

Who knows if this thing is bent, and how badly. I need to get it up on a frame machine, which is sitting at the body shop.

Ooh, and I have to fill out some form cuz the car is now a salvage title. Someone has to come inspect it and bless it as road worthy after the repairs.

Once you have the frame machine set up, just check the suspension mounting points, AND put the cage in. A pro setup has the cage set at the same time.
