here's a 12min video of a few laps of the full course at Thunderhill... taken from the cockpit of an M3...

No Audi's in the video since I was the only one there that time, and by the time this guy went to film us, my brakes had melted ;-)

he doesn't always take the best line, since his intention was to film us "slow people" (B group), but you get a good sense of the track.

This is actually two segments spliced together as you will notice a small blip after one of the turn 6-7's :-)

LARGE FILES.

(there are a couple other random vids at the url, too)

Enjoy... and don't saturate your links too much ;-)

I'll be at TracQuest-Buttonwillow for my first track event EVER!! All these posts and AVIs are making me want to go RIGHT NOW!!! At 44 years old I am seriously a late-comer to this stuff but I can already tell I will be addicted.

Damn you enthusiasts! I shall now begin praying to the gods that watch over off-track excursioning.<p>Alan G

Taner,

Cool video. I enjoyed it. The M3 seemed faster than the Porsche. I was wondering, why didn't the Porsche let him pass, like the Supra and NSX did? It almost looked like he tried to pass at one point and the other driver was trying to hold him off.

This was just practice laps, right? My curiosity has the best of me here :) So, what is the etiquette for passing/racing? I would like to eventually get involved in track driving, but not so much racing, at least not for a while :)

The M3 went out to film us (the B - aka "slow" group)...

So the M3 was trying to hang back whenever possible :-)

None of these laps were aggressive at all...

A = previous track experience, and pretty good
B = little or not previous track experience, or "not as good"

We added other rules, too...

A = unlimited passing
B = passing only in straights or when 100% safe (waved past)

You might even come CLOSE to hitting is the one on the back straight, if you get squirly thru the S curves...

but that's pretty unlikely unless you're TRYING to hit it...

otherwise all you have to worry about is going offcourse and into the dirt/grass/pheasants/moocows...

;)
