I've been out of the SCCA for years but I used to run the Dogwood GP in Knoxville. They shut down the highway and several ramps for the event.
Man, that was fun.

View Full Version : Mike Z- No more SCCA Street events? What happened? JayP 07-18-2000, 05:09 AM I've been out of the SCCA for years but I used to run the Dogwood GP in Knoxville. But in the latest SCCA minutes, they eliminated any references to street autoX events and will not support or sanction them. And so there is not one local club that can afford the insurance costs alone without the MAIN SCCA one behind them. I have heard bits here and there that becaise of cars though the years going up over curbs, light poles getting nailed, etc, . . . . that is was deemed too dangerous for a Solo II event. What a shame, cause races like the Portage Grand Prix (the first one ever that was in Indiana) was such a blast too - and one of the few times that us AutoX drivers ever got a bit of the thrill the real racers get at a public event. For me, it will be greatly missed!<p>********** The Z Man |
