I am almost convinced to buy a 350mm Momo Monte Carlo steering wheel and a Momo short anatomic shift knob for my UrQ. The original equipment is turning to powder. I borrowed a Monte Carlo and drove around with it for an hour. I liked the feel, but 350mm does cut out a major portion of the gauges (I can live with it). Do you guys have any suggestions for low-budget stuff? Is the Monte Carlo even available any more? Anyone want to sell a used one?
Todd W
83 UrQ (hey, I only paid $500)
86 5ktq (swallowing more parts than the UrQ!!!)

So I guess you bought the salvage? What are your future plans for the UrQ? How bad of shape is it in? How long of a project will it be?
I was just curious, and I'm glad to hear the UrQ will be preserved.
Rich D.

I have been driving it as my only transportation for several weeks now. The insurance company gave me $5K, but I put the money towards my student loans. I have a solid quote of $1,100 to remove the faceprint of the minivan, then all it needs is a new muffler. I have enough parts to keep me busy for the rest of the year, except that I may replace the carpet (and I'm obviously considering a new wheel and shift knob).
I doubt that it will be ready for the track in October, hopefully in March. I plan to take the 5ktq to RA in September. It is waiting for a new head, EM, and Scrick cam. Should put out at least 275hp (it was already 240+). Did anyone say brake upgrade? It already has Eibachs, etc. Maybe then I will be able to keep up with the A4's :)
I had several people interested in the coupe. One guy even said to consider it sold, but then I never heard from him again. No big deal, I can't afford an A4 and I need something to drive. I looked at old S4/S6's, but couldn't justify one of those either. My 5ktq is just too good at $2K to justify $20K+ for only twice as good.
Todd W
