I know that there will be an HP difference between US and Europe, but I still would like an update comparision. What I need is this:
LOWEND - which has the better grunt coming out of a turn, say like in 2nd or 3rd gear. I am not interested in drag races or 0-60. I want this for AutoX purposes, and there is hardly any long straights right off the line.
BRAKING - which can brake quicker, and more stable
HANDLING - this is very important, and includes a number of items:
steering ratio - which has a quicker response or fewer turns lock to lock
stiffness - which wallows and which feels firm and level
attitude - which has understeer or oversteer
confidence - which feels stable, and which feels like it is near the edge
FUN FACTOR - well, that says it all too, which is more of a joy to drive flat out
Remember Le Mans?????? :)
Seriously, I am getting near the time for a choice, and want to know which should I get or wait for? The M3 (now) or the S4 (WAIT). Of course there is always the Boxster "S" - but some dealers are already sold out for TWO YEARS in advance!

I wouldn't choose my car for autocross specifically. The A4 does fine in Ax, but a better choice would be a small loti (didn't you own one?) or even a CRX. Then you can be competetive on any course and just spend a bit.
The M3/5's and the S4 are classed (will be classed) way too hard. They are superb cars, but better suited to the track IMHO.
