On September 11-12, Allegheny Region of the Porsche Club of America (Pittsburgh, PA area) will be putting on a high-speed driver's education event at the Nelson's Ledges race track (northeast corner of Ohio, outside Niles, OH). This is open to all cars and drivers (Porsche Club membership NOT mandatory) meeting the following conditions:
- Minimum of 18 years old with valid driver's license
- 1990 or newer SA or M SNELL rated helmet
- Long sleeve cotton shirt, long cotton pants, leather or canvas shoes
- Safe vehicle (street car acceptable) meeting:
3/32" min. tread depth
Good quality brakes (brake fluid flush/bleed
HIGHLY recommended)
Body/suspension tight with no play/major rust
Seatbelts for driver and passenger (equal restraints/seating MANDATORY for both)
Convertibles require rollbar above normal heightdriver's head (with helmet on) and arm restraints
Targas run with tops on, sunroofs must be closed
- One novice driver per car
Cost is $135 per driver. Each driver will get paired with an experienced instructor, and will have approx. 2 hours of track time per day. We have small run groups - approx 15-18 cars per group. Passing is allowed only on designated straghtaways, and ONLY if the car in front waves you by. In addition, there will be mandatory classroom sessions.
While we are a Porsche Club, a high proportion of entrants are non-Porsche. We have a number of instructors familiar with Audis. Also, we try to orient ourselves to be a "driver friendly" school - "crazies" are discouraged and asked to tone themselves down or leave.
If interested, applications are available by:
1) Our Web site (www.pca.org/all, click on "Calendar of Events" then "Application Form" at page bottom
1) E-mail me your Postal Service mailing address
2) Send me E-mail address for sending of a Microsoft Word (Office 97) version
Questions, E-mail me DIRECTLY at porsray@sgi.net or call 412/824-5264 (DON'T post questions on this user list; to me not right to clutter it up thusly).
Thanks.

Ray Calvo (porsray@sgi.net)
Allegheny Region, Porsche Club of America
