Shown in the Nov. 2, 1998 issue of Autoweek Magazine is this photo of the Audi R8 LeMans SportsRacer Class racer for 99.<br>I think this photo shows more clearly what this car looks like, than others seen recently.<p>I've been a continuous subscriber to AW since 1973, yes that's 73, and recommend it highly for a weekly auto mag. <br>I have no other affiliation to or with AW. <br>(Hope that helps me around any copyrights of this photo.)<p>Bob B<p>98.5 2.8 QTS

This is not the current version of the car. This is a much earlier model. If you notice, this one does not have mirrors on the side (Le Mans regs require the car to comply with the road regulations of the country of origin). The rear end is shorter (i.e. past the wheel wells) on this car. The Audi rings are not on the front. No turn signals on the front, and the lenses for the lights are clear. Seems you're both correct, this photo just published in Autoweek is apparently the "first"or an earlier version of the R8. Autoweek Mag is behind the times. I should have examined them more closely.<p>I prefer the latest evolutionary version, as published or provided officially by Audi.<p>It's still interesting to see various versions and ones disguarded, never to see the real battle of races......hum....wonder what the disguarded one would cost on the scrap market? Now that would probably be awesome on the Autocross circuit, driver's school or even on the road in a limited way. Just dreaming!!!<p>Bob B<br>98.5 2.8QTS
