Just FYI, for current or prospective subscribers to any digital satellite TV services:
EchoStar's DiSH Network added Speedvision (Channel 150) Dec. 1. It's part of the $4.99/mo. "Action Pack" that also includes Outdoor Life and the Outdoor Channel (but who really cares?).
Like I don't sit transfixed in front of CRTs enough already....
now I have digital cable service, which seems on real even footing with DSS dishes as far as channel availability, except I get all of the local channels and can have it in many rooms on different channels at the same time, all for $39.95/month. It does not have Speedvision, but it does have the Speed channel or something similar.

We have Eurosport here in Iceland-it shows RAC Rally, World Superbike and GP, and they just had the Bathhurst 1000 from Australian Touring Car Championship. Pretty cool. They also show a lot of cricket-not so cool.
Chris
My company just finished up the deal to sell our satellite slot and uplink center to EchoStar in exchange for Stock I think.
What it gives EchoStar is another satellite, full North American coverage and the ability to broadcast 500 channels and all local FOX networks...
Should be very interesting when the satellite launches and the new uplink center is done.
Speedvision is something like 30% owned by News and I think it was part of the deal that EchoStar broadcasts it for us if we sell to them.

Press Release - Newscorp Sells to EchoStar

Don't we all :-)
Crank the heat up to 80, chill a few beers, and watch a few hours of cricket while it snows ouside.
