The Maserati Club organized a race day for all members and affiliated Club members which included The Audi Club.
Had a great Day, about 80 cars, you name it it was there, 355 Ferraris, 911 RS porsches,
Jags with Big blocks, Corvettes, Lotus, V8 Alpha's, V8 MG's, etc etc.
Not to mention 6 Audis,
2 Quattro 90's, A3 1.8T, 2 A4QTM, A4 1.8FWD.
Best Lap time was 1m.23s Done in a race preped Porsch
I completed a respectable 1.40 lap K-04,AZK springs/Shocks, Still Stock 16" wheels & tires.
Next was the A31.8T 1.42 chipped with a experienced driver.
Quattro 90 1.42 then A41.8TQM chipped/Remus 1.45, the 1.8Non-Turbo FWD did a 1.50.
Most of the Audi guys where first time on a race track and Sandown in Melbourne is not forgiving, many walls and rails, So Full effort was not really taken, i would rather loose a second or two than a car.
Unlike one of the Subaru WRX's i almost caught up to, until he went two fast at the end of the straight, lost control, tried to regain it, shot accross the track and into the Rail.
The Car had its Right hand side wiped off, pride battered for sure, and it was only two months old.
Its was interesting to see most of the WRX cars had their Numberplates taped up and registration sticker covered. There is strong rumours Subaru are keeping a databse of Cars and Rego numbers that have been modified.
The modified ones where un-catchable, usually getting about 1.35 per lap.
One of the members videoed some of the Audis, If any one is interested I might be able to do a mpeg file and email it to you.
All in all a great day and the bug has bit me again. Is that right Mike?

You mean me Lucas??? No bug has ever bitten moi, . . . . . <VBEG>.
Sounds like you had fun, though! Any time on a REAL road course is always appreciated by me! AutoX is FUN, but up to a point. There is nothing like the thrill of being on a road course and told to "have at it". For me, I was lucky enough to have raced on Riverside before it was torn down, but Road America is my true home away from home - and I remember that course in my memory better than any other track! And after I even did my first event there, AutoX was never the same for me. But AutoX has its place, and I still do it.
