I have a set of Audi NuS6 17X8 ET35 Avus rims I picked up. They came with 255/40X17 Conti SportContacts on them. They fit just fine on my Coupe Quatto.

I am going to use these rims for Michelin Sport Cups. Hence, the question.

I know the recommended width for both these tires is 8.5+, but can I use the MSCs 255/40 on these rims. Or would you suggest I drop back one size and use the 245/40?

This question is base strictly on the tire vs rims, not on whether they would fit the car.

Thank you,
Greg W.

Generally race tires tend to run a bit wider than street tires for the size. The difference is normally less than .3" Both tires are listed to fit 8.5" wheels.

Tires
