hullo
1.) Break-in is typically regarded as the first 1500 miles (2400km) of driving, where you should only seldom take the engine above 3500rpm, and only for very short times. Some
people don't think there's any break in required, but it can't hurt to be gentle :*)
2.) I'd say do the chipping after first service ; that way , not only have you had time to save up for the chip, but you've also got a good feeling for the car in stock form and you will thus get more enjoyment out of the effect of chipping :*) . If you chip within warranty period, make sure you can take it to a dealer that doesn't mind chipping. You can find a lot of discussion in this forum about deciding on a particular chip. My vote is for Neuspeed because of price vs. performance.
3.) No clue about lowering springs... I ordered the sport package which should suit my purposes fine.
4.) Rear spoiler: do you really need an ironing board on your boot lid? (just kidding, go by your own tastes :*)
5.) Turbo timer for the stock turbo is not deemed necessary. Just run the engine gently during the last couple of minutes before shut-off. Some people park and idle with the front door open. When the door chime stops, you'll have given the turbo a pretty decent interval to cool off.

h.t.h.,
-K.
'99 A4 1.8tqMS
