RobS and I lined our cars up last night and took a few pictures to show the difference between the PIAA SuperWhites and the Audi Stock Halogen bulbs.
In this shot the car on the left has the SuperWhites, and the car on the right does not...
JohnS
Here's a head on shot close up. The Brilliant Yellow car has the SuperWhites, the Laser Red has stock bulbs.

A head on shot on the street. I shook the camera a little, so it blurred, but the effect is cool- ish...
SW on left, stock on right.

This is a shot looking down the street at the light output on the street. SuperWhites on the right, stock on the left.

Still doesn't do the Superwhites justice.

OK. I read the posts below and it sounds like it is definately worth the investment (please correct me if I'm wrong). Now, where can I get them? Did you replace all 6 of your bulbs, or just the lows, highs, or fogs? Are the lenses hotter than with stock bulbs? Any concerns using the PIAA low beam bulbs and fog bulbs at the same time (heat buildup)? Thanks for any info.
Gary

I only replaced the low beams with the superwhites. They don't seem to burn hotter, they are the same 55w as the stock. I still have the regular bulbs in the fog and hi-beams.
I doubt there would be any kind of heat build up since they don't burn hotter than the stock ones.
JohnS
John,
I imagine the the pictures do not do the SW lamps justice. The big qusetion is are the housings the stock DoT plastic or are the the BOSCH 'E CODE' units as they take the H7 configuration?
A set of these would really be advantageous as I drive to and now from work in the dark 40 mi in and 40 mi back....
PeterV

sorry John I did not reload so I did not see your details post. Interesting and very cost effective by using the stock housings.
PeterV My lights look like Bamboo which is the body color

Do you know whether Boom Toys would ship to a U.S. customer for that price ?

hopeful,
-K.

I don't know too much about lighting systems yet, but am definitely interested in upgrading the not so great stock lights! Any info you can provide me would be appreciated. Thanks.
JT 99' 1.8Tqms

Yes, they will ship anywhere in the US. I live in Houston and they shipped to me. The shipping cost from Vancouver to Houston ~ 6 USD by UPS. Actually it will cost closer to 80 USD. He sold to me for 130 Cdn.

I've gone to a couple of web sites selling PIAA bulbs and they all have the same disclaimer saying that PIAA bulbs are only for "auxillary" lighting and may not be certified or legal for headlight usage.
Does anyone know what CA law says about such things?
-henri

I just ordered my H7 Superwhites from Boom Plus Toys in Canada and got the last pair they had in stock. I was told they would cost me $125.4 canadian which is around $70-75 usd. Shipping should be around $10 via UPS.
I spoke to Morris King who you can contact at:
info@boomplustoys.com
(604)325-1882

and despite the name, it's light is not blue but very white. Closest yet to a real HID. The easiest way to explain it is by their wavelength (if you remember your physics), Superwhite is rated at 3800K and the Plasma Blue is rated at 5000K. Normal sunlight is about 5300K. So you can imagine what it will look like.
I did post a picture and the light about a month ago. You can search the achieve to see it yourself.
