View Full Version : I hate my Kumhos (sorta long).

I have 235/35/19 Kumho MX. They've vibrated ever since I had them. I've tried rebalancing, to no avail. Then, I realized that one of my wheels was missing a hub-centric ring. After ensuring all wheels were centered, the car still rode like ****. I've had the wheels looked at, and none are bent, all have the proper lug bolts, and were recently balanced on a Hunter machine.

The main reason I dislike the tires is because they're loud and tramline. However, I believe only one of the tires is the culprit of this vibration I've been experiencing. The tire was on the right rear of the car and that's where it felt like it was coming from. After having the tires rotated and that specific tire moved to the front of the car, the vibration now feels as if it is coming from the front (i.e. steering wheel shimmy).

Basically, I think it has a flat spot. I've had all other variables checked out and remedied. How can I check for myself to make sure this is the problem? I don't want to buy different tires and have the same problem (due to there being another cause of this vibration). Thanks for any advice. Here's a checklist of possible variables that can cause vibration:

Off-center: All rims have hub-centric rings

Off-Balance: Balanced numerous times on Hunter machine

Improper Lug Bolts: The proper lug bolts are installed and were purchased from Gary@TireRack

Bent wheel: Reputable shop tells me they're perfectly round after I specifically asked them to check for bends

Tire Pressure: All tires are around 38psi.

Defective tires: Unsure yet, shop says there aren't heavy spots, but perhaps I can check for a flat spot on my own? (Don't know how to go about this, don't feel like taking it to a shop again)
